Forgotten your Joomla admin username or password? Don't panic, there's an easy way to recover your username and reset your password in the event that you've lost or forgotten them.

First, go to the page where you'd normally log in to the admin back end, this is usually at yourdomain.com/administrator.

See the question marks on the right of the username and password fields? They are the route to recovering your username and resetting your password.

To recover your username click the question mark button on the right of the username field.

In the next screen that appears enter the email address associated with your Joomla user account and check the reCaptcha box labelled 'I am not a robot', then click the submit button.

In a short while, you'll get an email with your username.

If you've also forgotten your password you'll need to repeat the process, this time clicking the question mark button on the right of the password field.

This time, the process is slightly different. It's not secure to email your password, so instead your Joomla site will email you a verification code. The email also contains a link to a form where you can enter the verification code and change your password. Once you've done that, you can log in with the new password.
